HOBBY
While I’m not a huge fan of crafts, I discovered macramé a few years ago, and it’s been a fantastic way to unwind and let go of the daily grind. It's a perfect creative outlet that helps keep my mind balanced and focused on beauty. Triin Haaring - Public Procurement Specialist
MUSEUM
As someone passionate about ancient Greek and Roman culture, I always try to visit historical sites when traveling. My recent highlight was the ancient theater in Taormina, Sicily—built around 400 BC, it’s one of the best-preserved ancient theaters, with breathtaking views of Mount Etna! Triin Haaring - Public Procurement Specialist
BOOK
For anyone who tends to procrastinate on important tasks, I highly recommend Brian Tracy's “Eat That Frog!”. It teaches you how to stop procrastinating and get more done in less time. My biggest takeaway: “Identify your ‘frog’, break it down into smaller pieces, and just eat it.” I try to apply this principle daily in all aspects of life. Triin Haaring - Public Procurement Specialist
I love castles and have visited Alatskivi Castle multiple times. Besides the beautiful castle itself, you can explore the stables with interactive exhibits—there’s something for everyone, big and small. On the grounds, you can also visit the Eduard Tubin Museum, which showcases the life and work of one of Estonia’s most famous composers. Doris Järv - Estimator
ARTICLE
I recently came across an article about a museum in Marseille, France, that offers nudists a chance to visit and enjoy art in the nude one evening a month. The interesting part? You still must wear shoes!😊 We live in a world where everyone should feel as comfortable as possible when enjoying their favourite activities and places. Isn’t that great? Doris Järv - Estimator
Hobby
My favourite way to spend time is playing disc golf. It's quite popular among Estonians, and no wonder—our idol, Kristin Tattar, is a world champion! Doris Järv - Estimator
I love travel books, and one of my favorites is "My Greece" by Ester Laansalu. Greece is, in my opinion, one of the most amazing countries with its rich mythological history and culture. The book offers great insights into the Greek people and their way of life. Doris Järv - Estimator
Book by Carl G. Jung is a captivating exploration of the world of symbols and their profound impact on our behaviour and our unconscious mind. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the human psyche as his writing style makes complex psychological concepts more accessible. Vladyslav Shvets - Exhibit Engineer
The exhibition “Right Body, Wrong Body?” in the Estonian National Museum in Tartu is worth visiting, even as a day trip from Tallinn. The museum architecture in a rather rural setup is already very impressive. The exhibition itself is about the human experience of the body and how we perceive the world through it. The exhibition looks closely at restrictions, concepts and norms that developed within different cultures, with main focus on Estonian culture. It is open until 28th of January 2024. Vladyslav Shvets - Exhibit Engineer
The Disgusting Food Museum in Malmö offers a unique and memorable experience for those willing to explore the world of culinary curiosities. As the name suggests, you’ll see some of the most unusual foods from around the globe. Exhibits include a fermented shark from Iceland, maggot-infested cheese from Sardinia, and various insect delicacies. The goal of this museum is to challenge our perceptions of what is considered "disgusting" and to encourage discussions about cultural differences in food preferences. Vladyslav Shvets - Exhibit Engineer
Pia Hovi, the curator of Finland's new Chappe museum, says that they don't draw strict lines between what's considered art and design and equal attention goes to ecological design and a collection of paintings from a long time ago. Here, artists are working together with researchers, scientists, and other professionals, mixing different fields of knowledge. The effect of seeing old paintings of cold landscapes and rough seas in the museum next to modern designs is powerful. It reminds us why the work of designers is so important. Vladyslav Shvets - Exhibit Engineer
The book by David Mitchell is about the influence that individual people from one time and society may inadvertently have on those in a future when they have already ceased to exist. Each story is told in a very different style, which makes the book more challenging, but also more interesting. The movie adaptation from 2012 is also a pretty good adaptation of the book although some characters from the book have been left out. Wolfgang Steffen - Representative in Germany
The new science center called "Cosmocité" in Grenoble, France, opened his doors. It has a focus on Earth and Space, with a planetarium, an immersive media room as well as a permanent exhibition. This science center will take you far beyond into the unimaginable depths of space with the newest technology. Wolfgang Steffen - Representative in Germany
While reading the article I started thinking that it might be interesting to eat at a restaurant that serves food from the epochs that were represented in its exhibition. In Germany, some ancient castle restaurants offer medieval meals or based on historic recipes. Wolfgang Steffen - Representative in Germany
A recent pleasant surprise was the Vrek Museum in Stockholm, which was a joy to discover for the whole family. You can discover the history of shipwrecks from the first founders of the Baltic Sea to the present day. You can also take a peek at underwater archaeology and try out the main stages of the investigation yourself. An accessible task for visitors of all ages. When you're tired of exploring, you can relax and let the spirits of the waters take you on an audio-visual journey through all the ages of the Baltic Sea. Liisa Liksor - Project Manager
On a hot summer's day, it's good to ward off the heat with crisp, chill-inducing stories. I recommend literature with a full-blown frost, blizzard or ice storm. Travel stories from Alaska or Antarctica, treks through the taiga or the harsh conditions of Siberian concentration camps. For example, "A day in the life of Ivan Denissovich", which also gives tips on bricklaying in -40 degrees, fits nicely into a beach bag. Liisa Liksor - Project Manager
Icelandic artist Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir/Shoplifter's exhibition "The Hopper's Net" is open at the KAI Art Centre until November. A riot of colorful and furry art created especially for the space and woven into a net in the room. The first thing that comes to mind are colorful dust brushes from childhood, which most of us have had at home but never used for any (normal) purpose. Behind the humorous form lies a serious message that provides a topic for extended reflection and conversation. Liisa Liksor - Project Manager

MUSIC
In Estonia the must event in 2023 was the Youth Song and Dance Celebrations with 15,000 singers and 8000 dancers, an audience of over 50,000 people. That's about 5% of our population in one venue singing all together. In two years, the General Song and Dance Celebration will take place, where all age groups from all over Estonia will dance and sing together. An experience that will be remembered for a lifetime. Ahti Petrovits - Development and Project Manager

The opportunity to experience the life and death of Salme Vikings has freshly opened at the Seaplane Harbour! The travelling exhibition features 150 original items that were given as grave offerings to Viking warriors, hoping for their lives to continue in Valhalla. This gives us a look into Viking life and their customs – the origins of the men who belonged to the same war party, the ships they sailed on, the equipment they took with them, the way they fought and buried their dead while on raids away from home. The accessibility solutions in Seaplane Harbour help to bring the history of the Vikings to a wider audience. Visitors are also welcome to try on Viking clothing and weapons and row on the Salme Strait like a Viking. Maarja Tõnisson - Project Manager

"Dark Ecology" is a book by Timothy Morton about intimate interconnections and radical self-knowledge in times of ecological crises. Mortons work is a skilled fusion of humanities and scientific scholarship, incorporating the theories and findings of philosophy, anthropology, literature, fine art, ecology, biology, and physics. This book brings bittersweet joy and playfulness, making unexpected connections between humans and nonhumans. All books by Timothy Morton are mind-blowing and amusing readings on burning issues! A very intense and mesmerising audio-visual exhibition by the Japanese digital art group teamLab in the Kumu Art Museum. You can easily spend hours upon hours looking at neverending waves and seas of flowers. I visited this technically impressive show with our team member and the curator of this exhibition Inga Jaanus, who also revealed some behind the scenes stories and elements to us. I strongly recommend giving this exhibition a visit! Kaspar Kaljas - Project Manager
A quick insight into the world that is still mysterious to many - TikTok. The new generation platform that has grown bigger than Facebook and Instagram and where the content has almost no limits, letting the creators be truly creative. This article focuses on simple and clear pointers on growing your viewer base on TikTok. Kaspar Kaljas - Project Manager
„Never Split the Difference“ by Chris Voss with Tahl Raz calls on Chris Voss' FBI career as their top hostage negotiator. Specifically, it equips readers with the negotiating skills needed to secure business deals. Chris suggests that logic and reason are not generally effective in producing productive negotiations. Life is a series of negotiations you should be prepared for: buying a car, negotiating a salary, buying a home, renegotiating rent, deliberating with your partner. Taking emotional intelligence and intuition to the next level, this book gives you the competitive edge in any discussion. Kaspar Kaljas - Project Manager
A truly good example of an ethnic music standup show. They have said that what they do is educational and romantic neozombiepostfolk. Puuluup is considered to be an etno and folk band with shows that have lots of humor, enchanting rhythms, unexplainable lyrics, with all of it being brought to life on local Hiiu zithers, enhanced with lots of loopers. A guaranteed good time! Kaspar Kaljas - Project Manager
"The greatest Christmas shoots in Vogue through the years" gives a wonderful visual insight into the history of holiday fashion and women. To be read whilst listening to Miley Cyrus singing Santa Baby. Moonika Schmidt - Project Manager
Want to find out who was naughty and who was nice in medieval Tallinn? Then this is the tour for you. Tallinn City Museum’s exhibition “Indecent Tallinn” takes you around the old town and teaches you about herbal love potions and many other rather indecent things! The experiential tour also includes a workshop with hands-on activities (A fair warning- when they say hands-on, they mean it!). An evening full of cheeky fun is guaranteed! Moonika Schmidt - Project Manager
The Christmas classic, "Santa Claus and His Elves" by Mauri Kunnas, tells you everything you need to know (and tell your kids) about Santa Claus, his elves, and magical Korvatunturi. Moonika Schmidt - Project Manager
The mouthwatering "Gingerbread city" in the Museum of Architecture in London. Over 100 leading architects, land- scape architects, engineers and designers have used their building expertise and baking genius to create gingerbread-based urban landscapes in five different climate zones. Moonika Schmidt - Project Manager
As someone who enjoys pranks, I must admit that my favourite exhibit is my favourite when used not in the intended way. In the Estonian Maritime museum you can use an iPad to choose a modern ship, rename it and choose the route it will be sailing. Then you add your email and the API will start sending you emails like „Your ship has arrived in Rotterdam now, next stop Tallinn“. As nobody is checking whose email you are using, it offers an opportunity to troll your family and friends with their named ships for weeks. Sandra Aleksius - Project Manager
Though more than 4 years old, this article resurfaced again on social media. Breast cancer was considered a modern disease, but renaissance paintings say otherwise. It is a prime example of how art is not just art, but it also portrays our previous lives and gives input to research. Sandra Aleksius - Project Manager
H.C. Andersen’s House in Odense opened in the summer of 21. It is said to be a completely new kind of museum, which gives the Andersen literary universe a physical space and stages a spirited and complete artistic experience in which architecture, sound, light and images will create new encounters between each visitor and Andersen’s fairytale. The 8-year-old me would be on the verge of excitement! Sandra Aleksius - Project Manager
A great book to remind yourself of high school biology and learn things that weren't taught when we went to school. Adam Rutherford has made a very heavy topic readable without too much scientific jargon. Who of us has neanderthal genes, why some of us have green eyes, is there even a thing like race and who were the Denisovans? This book gives answers to all of these questions and more. Sandra Aleksius - Project Manager
